Are Dual Controls Safe in Automatic Cars?

The control must remain secure under firm pressure. The instructor may need to brake much harder in an emergency than during a routine test. Brackets, joints and connections must be able to handle this force without bending or detaching. 

Pedal movement must also remain clear. Mats, footwear, trim and loose objects must not block either side. Both pedals should return fully after every use.
